Our Process

People are used to receiving treatments like physiotherapy, acupuncture, and massage therapy in a clinical setting so it’s understandable you might be wondering how it works in an in-home setting. Here’s an overview of our process and what you can expect when you choose to work with Core Physical Care.

Your Assessment

For all of our services, you will be assessed before your first treatment. For physiotherapy (our core service) and aqua therapy clients, our experienced physiotherapists will conduct industry-standard assessments using comprehensive history-taking as well as specific physical tests, such as range of motion, balance, and muscle strength testing. Physiotherapists will then analyze the assessment findings and use clinical reasoning to establish a diagnosis.
Massage therapy and our wellness and weight loss service have their own separate intake processes. From there, we will create a treatment plan that includes details treatment frequency and the type(s) of therapy/ies (such as manual, exercise, ultrasound, etc.) we will use.

Treatments

Most of our treatments last one hour, and we will bring everything necessary to perform them in your space.

We use the latest evidence-based practices that support ‘active therapy’ (you moving your body) over ‘passive therapy’ (us performing treatments ON you), although we do use passive therapies (like ultrasounds and laser treatments, etc.) where necessary and appropriate.

There is huge variation in terms of treatment plan length. Our goal is always to increase your mobility and reduce/eliminate your pain or discomfort in as short a time frame as possible. That said, most situations require at least six to eight weeks to realize significant change.

Billing

You will be billed after each treatment, like you would be in a clinic setting. Payment can be made via cheques, etransfers, visa, debt, and mastercards. We also offer direct billing to your insurance company if this option is available to you.

Cancellation

We have a strict 24-hour cancellation policy in place to protect our practitioners. Failure to give sufficient notice (24+ hours) of cancellation will result in 100% of the treatment cost charged to your account.

Our Fitness Partner

In the spirit of promoting active therapy, we will recommend ongoing, supervised, exercise therapy for some clients. In these cases, we partner with Toronto’s leading provider of in-home personal training, Nielsen Fitness, to fulfill this service. We also welcome inquiries from those seeking fitness therapy – and it can usually be billed under the umbrella of physiotherapy depending on your goal, need, and situation.
